Cleveland Fire Department responded this morning to a house fire in the southeastern section of the city.
According to Ben Atchley, fire and arson investigator for CFD, the fire was intentionally set.
The call came into 911 around 5 a.m. at a 5th Street address.
Atchley said during the course of his initial investigation that door locks had been breached and a flammable liquid used to set the fire.
The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Investigation is continuing.
- Cleveland Police are searching for a suspect in the robbery of a pizza delivery employee.
According to a report filed by officer Chris Allen, the incident occurred last week.
The victim stated he was delivering pizza to an address on Sheeler street when a black male approached him and ask how much the pizza cost.
Another black male approached the driver and reached into his pocket, then struck the victim in the face. Two other males joined in the beating, according to the report.
Identification, a cellphone, four pizzas and cash were taken.
The driver was taken to SkyRidge Medical Center for treatment.
Allen also spoke with another delivery person who stated she had gone to a 6h Street address for a delivery. She was approached by a black male who fit the description of one of the earlier suspects. He reportedly asked if she had change for a $100 bill, asked how much money she had then told her “she needed to leave the area,” according to the report. No money was taken from her, the report said.
The case has been turned over to detective Sgt. Brian Pritchard for follow-up.
- Bradley County Sheriff’s Office filed a report for a cab driver who was approached by a black male and robbed.
According to a report filed by deputy John Davis, the victim said the suspect had called for a cab. When he arrived, the victim said he saw a car with the hood up as if it had broken down.
The suspect climbed into the cab, gave the victim a $100 bill and asked for change.
According to the report, while giving change, the suspect drew a weapon and demanded money.
A cellphone and some cash were taken, according to Davis.
The Criminal Investigations Division of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation.
