Bonnie D. Lawson, 91, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of Georgetown, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in a local health care facility.

She was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church.

She was a graduate of Bradley Central High School, class of 1939.

She worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II and was a seamstress at American Uniform for 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Cleo Randolph Hicks; her husband, N.L. Lawson; three brothers: Roy Hicks, Clyde Hicks and James Hicks, who was killed in action in World War II; one sister, Helen Hicks; sister-in-law, Lou Hicks; and brother-in-law, Charles Hyde.

She was survived by two sisters: Wilma M. Hicks and Betty J. Hyde, both of Cleveland; two special nieces: Terri Ricketts and her husband, Ron, and Cindy Smith and her husband, Raymond, all of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-nephews; sister-in-law, Nora Belle Newell of Birchwood; and brother-in-law, Kermit Lawson of Athens.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 21, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Farris officiating.

Interment will follow in the Cofer Cemetery with Jeff Stinnett, Leon Smith, Jack Caldwell, Jerry Stinnett, Raymond Smith and Matthew Smith serving as pallbearers.

A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home prior to the service.
