The Aldersgate Garden Club held its monthly meeting on Jan. 27, 2012, at the Trinity United Methodist Church with 12 members attending.

Dorothy Keith, who was hostess for the meeting, displayed a pot of Yellow Primrose.

Barbara Ector, chaplain, led the devotion titled “Patience and Trust,” followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Billie Blair, president, opened the meeting. Joan Steward gave the secretary’s report. The treasurer’s report was given by Cynthia Humes.

Blair followed up on the old business and reminded everyone of the upcoming 2012 Deep South Region Convention hosted by the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs on March 18-20 and the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs Inc. 85th annual meeting on March 21-22.

Both will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Murfreesboro. Several members plan to attend.

Ms. Keith passed out to each member, “The Gardeners’ Calendar.” The calendar provided information on when is the best time of year to plant bulbs and seeds, and which are the best months to prune, feed or mulch.

The calendar pinpoints the essential tasks of the seasons and suggests plants to provide color throughout the year. After the calendars were distributed, she presented to each member a beautiful African Violet potted plant in a variety of colors.

Thanks to the hostess was given by Lelia Ware. Other members in attendance were Barbara Brown, Kay Cox, Sheryl Gash, Regenia Piersaul, Edwina Robinson and Jackie Westfield.
