Shorter University’s Walter Hill is the SSAC Player the Year and Hawks’ Chad Warner grabbed Coach of Year honors.
Tyrone Caldwell and Alex Well won spots on the SSAC All-Division Team. Chad Lee earned a place on the All-SSAC Freshman squad and Brice Sharp was a Champion of Character award selection.
The Flames will open SSAC Tournament play on Thursday at 8 p.m. They will face a dangerous Faulkner University team. The opening round is being staged at Darlington School. The contest will be aired on 101.3 FM.
In the only men’s game on Wednesday, Emmanuel College advanced with a win over William Carey (Miss.).
Lee women’s basketball coach Marty Rowe, who directed the Lady Flames to a 28-2 regular season and another conference title, was named the SSAC Coach of the Year on Wednesday evening at the conference banquet.
Lee’s Hollie German and Shorter University’s Kelly Ellison were selected as the SSAC co-Division Players of the Year and Regena Jackson of Belhaven University (Miss.) was the overall SSAC Player of the Year. German was also All-SSAC.
Kally Eldridge and Mary Jackson won spots on the SSAC All-Division squad. Jenna Adams was placed on the SSAC All-Freshman squad and Larysa Latyshava was picked for the Champion of Character award.
The Lady Flames will open SSAC tourney play at the Forum on Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. They will face William Carey (Miss.) The Hatters advanced with a 77-40 romp over Emmanuel. The contest will be aired on 101.3 FM.
