The Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Cleveland State Community College will be hosting several upcoming workshops for March. All seminars will be held at Cleveland State Community College, located at 3535 Adkisson Drive, Cleveland. SBA Financing Workshop

Tuesday/March 13

This is a free workshop on business financing. The training covers Small Business Administration loan options, including which loan program meets a specific entrepreneurial need. The session begins with the five C’s of credit, which include character, cash flow, collateral, capitalization and conditions. It then transitions to an overview of SBA’s actual loan programs. Lastly, specific information will be shared about interest rates and repayment terms, plus TSBDC’s preferred community express, and SBA express lenders. Whether you are an existing entrepreneur or have given thought to starting a business, this seminar will put you ahead of the game in government guaranteed lending.

Credit Repair Workshop

This is a TSBDC free workshop on credit repair. Robert Price is chief operating officer with Price Daniels Credit Group Inc. Price has more than 20 years of experience in business development, sales and marketing and has a bachelor’s in business and economics from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Are credit problems preventing you from obtaining small business financing? We will discuss the steps you can take to improve your business credit rating. Good credit will help you become more attractive to lenders and will ensure that you receive better rates from insurance companies.

Child Care Provider Orientation

Attend this free orientation event to learn the basics about starting a childcare business. David Hudson, director of the TSBDC at CSCC, will go through the preliminary steps of opening your own childcare business. Topics will include: how to evaluate your abilities and knowledge; validating your business concept; understanding your profit potential; determining your financing potential; setting goals and objectives; writing a business plan; obtaining funding; forming the business; marketing; and managing. This is a critical seminar for those preparing to enter the rewarding field of childcare. Area agencies and organizations will provide presentations during the all-day orientation that include information on the department of the fire inspector, the health department, CCR&R, TECTA, the Childcare Certificate program, and DHS licensing. The orientation will include a one-hour lunch break from 12 to 1 p.m.

Career Alternatives in Franchise Ownership
