In the last 24 hours, 75 cleanup kits, 15 tarps and a dozen infant diaper packs were distributed in McMinn and Polk communities.
A partnership with Operation Compassion has allowed The Salvation Army to set up a distribution center at River Worship Center located 180 Wetmore Circle, Delano, TN 37325.
“We will be authenticating needs and distributing food, clothing and sundries to those in need and other urgent need requests at the distribution site in Delano,” according to Sgt. Ruthie Forgey, Cleveland Corps administrator.
In a collaborative effort to meet needs in Bradley County, Mount Olive Ministries, Second Harvest and Mars Chocolate NA have partnered with The Salvation Army to enable the organizations to meet specific short-term food and clothing needs for those who are in the very early stages of recovery.
Those needing assistance or more information should call The Salvation Army at 423-308-3467. Those needing assistance must obtain a voucher from The Salvation Army to receive services.
Hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Cleveland and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Delano.
The Salvation Army will resume relief efforts Wednesday and throughout the week offering assistance and care.
Those wishing to make a tax-free donation to the relief efforts can bring it by or mail it to 437 Inman St., Cleveland TN 37311.
The immediate needs are canned food items, new blankets, infants’ diapers and baby wipes.
“We are asking for all disaster volunteers to please stay tuned to social media venues or text ‘CLEhelp’ to 27138 to offer your services,” Forgey said.
