James Wayne Hammon, 69, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, at his home.

He was formerly from Greenville, S.C., but had resided in Cleveland for the last 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June Hammon; father, James Madison and brother, Myles Hammon.

Survivors include his mother, Louise Burns; sons, Eric Hammon and Greg Hammon; daughter, Ginger Hickman; brother, David Hammon; sisters, Linda Johnson and Sandra Olson; grandchildren: Beth Hammon, Madison Hammon and Austin Hickman; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. today, March 12, 2012, in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home prior to the service.
