He was the son of the late Ella Scott and Gilbert G. Scott Sr. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle Sue Davenport; and a sister, Linda Mize.
He started Light House Prayer Ministry, which helped feed the needy. He ministered on the radio and at different churches and held many benefit singings to help struggling families.
Survivors include his sons: Gary Lynn Scott of Florida, Gilbert D. Scott and Dayle Scott, both of Cleveland; daughters: Laurie Armstrong, Robin Jackson, Tammy Morrow and adopted daughter, Avanell Leamons, all of Cleveland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Frahm of Indiana, Dorothy Casteel of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in the family plot of Fort Hill Cemetery with Pastor Larry Oliver officiating.
Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
