The Ocoee Middle eighth-grade baseball team defeated Chilhowee Middle this week 14-3 and lost to Dalton Middle 2-1.
Ben Clark and Charlie Hammonds combined to defeat Chilhowee with Clark picking up the win. Avery Jones, Tyler Carpenter, Nathan Kirby and Jeremiah Sims each had two hits. Brice Gibson, Jacob Buckner, Hammonds, Clark, Rob David, Matthew Meadows and Kylar Lynn had one hit each.
On Wednesday, Sims pitched five strong innings for the Colts, giving up four hits and striking out six while walking none. Nathan Kirby pitched the last inning. Dalton scored its two runs in the first on an error. The Colts outhit the Cougars 6-5 with Sims going 3 for 4. Clark, Lynn and Carpenter each had one hit with Carpenter picking up the RBI.
The Colts are 1-1 on the season.
