ATLANTA — The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has named Lee University sophomore guard Hollie German a member of the Coaches’ All-America Team Honorable Mention, the organization announced.
German, an Old Fort native who played for legendary coach Ron Davis at Polk County High School, led the No. 7 ranked Lady Flames in scoring this season, dropping in 16.4 points per game.
She was also named Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Co-Divisional Player of the Year earlier this year.
In addition to the honor for German, Coach Marty Rowe has been named WBCA NAIA Region Five Coach of the Year.
Rowe is now a finalist for the 2012 Russell Athletic/WBCA NAIA National Coach of the Year award, an honor he gained following the 2005-06 season. This year’s winner will be announced, April 2, as a part of the WBCA National Convention.
Also representing the SSAC on the WBCA teams, Shorter’s Kelly Ellison was named to the Honorable Mention list, while Belhaven’s Regena Jackson and Loyola’s Keiva Council were added to the All-American team. The NAIA will announce its All-American teams following national tournament play.
