Charles W. Chambers Sr., 76, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, in a local hospital.

He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. He was retired from TVA. He served in the United States Navy.

He was the son of the late Luther and Dorothy Chambers. He was also preceded in death by his son, Chuck Chambers; and a sister, Peggy Gardner.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Chambers, of Cleveland; one daughter, Alice Johnson and husband, Ralph, of Cleveland; one grandchild, Sean Johnson and wife, Brittney, of Fort Hood, Texas; and one sister, Betty Stoker, of Rossville, Ga.

A memorial service will be held at 7 tonight, March 22, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with pastor Jim Caywood officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

His family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., today at the funeral home prior to the service.
