On Monday, Cleveland traveled to McMinn Central and led 2-0 at halftime. The Raiders went on to win 6-0. On Tuesday, the Raiders had their first home game of the season facing Ocoee Middle School.
The game was tied 1-1 in the first half when the Raiders pulled by netting two more goals before halftime. The final score was Cleveland 5, Ocoee 1.
On Thursday, Cleveland hosted Lake Forest. It took Cleveland a few minutes to crack the Bruins’ defense but once they did, the Raiders were able to find their way to the net a number of times. The game ended with Cleveland on top, 7-0.
The Raiders have made improvements this season focusing on field spacing and ball possession. The hard work was evident in the game against Lake Forest where a majority of the game was played with the ball at the Raiders’ feet on the Bruin’s half of the field.
The Raiders are led by co-captains Chris Pistrang and Jonathan Collins. In the back they have been anchored by solid play from Kyle Swenson, Jay Newman, Will Hammond and keeper Gustavo Wilhelm. The scoring has come from a variety of players with eight different Raiders getting in on the scoring so far.
CMS will take a week off for spring break and will return the following week with a chance to even the score against Chattanooga Christian at Cleveland Middle School on April 5 at 5:45 p.m. following the junior varsity game scheduled for 4:15.
