LADY FLAME Brittany Balough hurls in Lee’s sweep of Brewton-Parker Saturday.
The Lady Flames won their eighth consecutive game to improve to 28-5 overall and remain right behind Brenau University in the SSAC East Division standings with a 7-1 mark. Brenau stands at 9-1 and visits Butler Field on Tuesday afternoon for a 3 p.m. showdown with the Lady Flames.
Ringle finished the day 5 for 8 at the plate. The junior collected a single in the opener then added two singles, a double and a triple in the finale. Ringle knocked in three runs and scored four times.
Kelsey Barnes and Ana Coscorrosa each had three hits on the day. Coscorrosa had two doubles, one triple and knocked in six runs. Barnes added an RBI double.
Other Lady Flames with multiple hits in the twinbill were Dezirae Parsons, Savanna Bell and Tabitha Farrow.
Lee plated eight runs with two out in the fifth inning of the nightcap to break a 5-5 tie and put the run-rule into effect scoring 13 runs on 13 hits. Brewton-Parker plated five runs on five hits and took advantage of five Lee errors in the loss.
Jessa Watts (10-3) earned the win after giving up three earned runs and one walk in five innings. The freshman left-hander struck out seven Lady Barons.
Crystal Ward was tagged with the loss after pitching three innings of relief. Ward gave up eight runs, seven hits and three walks, while striking out one.
In the opener, the Lady Flames overcame three unearned runs by the Lady Barons in the top of the first to claim the win. Lee responded with two runs in the first and two more in the fifth.
Brittany Balough (15-1) picked up the win after allowing just four hits, two walks and striking out two batters in seven innings.
Ward was the hard-luck loser after allowing three earned runs, five hits and two walks in four innings of work.
