An early morning shooting at a residence on Keith Valley Road is under investigation by Bradley County Sheriff’s Office detectives.

Just before 3 a.m. today, deputies and Bradley County Emergency Medical Service paramedics responded to a home in the 1100 block of Keith Valley Road after reports of a shooting.

According to Bob Gault, media relations coordinator for BCSO, Criminal Investigations Division investigators responded to the scene after the initial call.

Gault said the male shooting victim is 66 years old and was shot in the neck. BCEMS spokesman Stan Clark confirmed the gunshot wound was to the man’s neck.

“We stabilized the victim, then transported him for treatment,” Clark said.

“At this time — which is very early in the investigation — information I have received from the detectives is that the shooting appears at this time to be domestic related,” Gault said.

According to 911 dispatchers, the victim was transferred to Erlanger Medical Center for treatment.

911 dispatchers indicated the victim was taken via ambulance due to the lack of availability of one air medical helicopter and low clouds due to overnight storms grounding another.

Gault also indicated the victim was shot with a handgun, but the caliber was not known at the time of his report.

Gault also added that one person is in custody and is expected to be questioned by the Criminal Investigations detectives.

The condition of the victim was not known at press time today.
