Chilhowee dancers winners in Nexstar dance competition

Soloists from Chilhowee Dance and Performing Arts Center competed at the Nexstar Dance Competition recently in Chattanooga at Memorial Auditorium.

CDPAC’s Avant Garde Company soloists competed against 27 other studios from Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama.

Shelbee Jordan received a platinum medal for her lyrical/acro solo “Sweet Dreams.” She placed first in the Petite Open Category and was the second overall highest score in the Petite Division.

Allie Elliott received a platinum medal for her lyrical/acro solo “Amazed.” She placed first in the Junior Open Category and was the second overall highest score in the Junior Division.

Tori Stepp received a high gold medal for her acro-contortion solo “May It Be.” She placed first in the acro/gymnastics category and was the seventh overall highest score in the Teen Division.

Emily Derrick received a platinum medal for her acro/contemporary solo “Evening Falls.” She placed first in the Open Category and was the first Overall Teen Grand Champion Soloist.

Lexi Valliere received a platinum medal for her lyrical solo “I’m In Here.” She placed first in the Lyrical Category and was the second Overall Highest Score in the Junior Elite Division. She was crowned the 2012 Junior Miss Nexstar. This is the third title for Valliere this competitive dance season. She was also crowned 2012 Junior Miss Platinum in Chattanooga and 2012 Junior Miss NYLA in Knoxville.

Caitlyn Lynn received a platinum medal for her Jazz solo “It Will Rain.” She placed first in the Jazz Category and was the fourth overall highest score in the Senior Division.

Danielle Farrell received a platinum medal for her hip-hop solo “To Fly.” She placed first in the hip-hop category and was the fifth overall highest score in the Senior Elite Division. She also received the Judges Power Award.

CDPAC is owned by Dr. and Mrs. Charles M. Hooper III. All solos were created and choreographed by Nisa Hooper. CDPAC Instructors that contributed to the solos were Tria Montgomery, Bill Reid, Caitlyn Lynn and Danielle Farrell.
