Lee University Lady Flames golfer Courtney Shelton has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, after earning medalist honors this past week at the Piedmont Spring Invitational.
Shelton earned her second conference award of the season, following scores of 72 and 74, her third medalist title of the season. The Franklin native was also given the conference honor back on March 19 for her performance at the Lee Spring Invitational.
The Lady Flames team, now ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, earned the win at the Orchard Golf and Country Club, last week, and have now won seven straight tournaments. Lee held off NCAA Division III power Methodist University to claim the team title. Methodist has won 13 consecutive Division III national championships.
The Lady Flames are off this week before heading into postseason play, next week, at the SSAC Tournament at the Oaks Golf Club in Pass Christian, Miss.
