Henry Taylor Rose, 78, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012, at his home.

He was the oldest charter member of Unity Church of God, where he served as a trustee.

He spent most of his life in Cleveland and was retired from Maytag after 19 1/2 years. He had an associate’s degree in electronics from UT in Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ollie Rose; sisters: Mary Womack, Inez Wright and Eva Townsend; brother, William Rose; and sons: John Henry Rose and Henry Taylor Rose Jr.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Jeraldine Simpson Rose; children: Dinah Calfee, Donnie and Kim Rose, Elizabeth and Rick Flowers, Linda and Randy Byers, David and Margaret Rose and Matthew and Angie Rose; sisters: Maybelle Ogle and Lucille Carter, all of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grand children.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Revs. Grady Simpson, David Rose and Barry Lee officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Randy Byers, Rick Flowers, Kenny Saxe, Tony Smith, Jeff Lewallen and James Stokes serving as pallbearers. Jonathan Rose, Blake Rose, Brian Rose, Jason Calfee, Richard Simpson and William Winters will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 this evening, April 11, 2012, at the funeral home.
