The annual Cleveland Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast is scheduled from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bald Headed Bistro in The Village Green.
This is the club’s major fundraiser each year, with proceeds from the breakfast used for the Kiwanis Club’s many projects to help children.
“It’s a time for the whole town to enjoy breakfast together and contribute to the children of our community,” said Kiwanis President Leigh Ann Boyd.
The Kiwanis Club’s motto is “Serving Children of the World.”
The funds raised each year benefit local 4-H clubs, the Boys & Girls Clubs, Head Start, Key Clubs at both Cleveland and Walker Valley high schools, the Builder’s Club at Cleveland Middle School, Kiwanis Foundation scholarships and other programs.
Tickets for the breakfast are $6, with children 5 and under eating free. The tickets can be purchased from any Kiwanis Club member.
Saturday’s morning meal will include pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee.
A number of businesses and organizations are contributing to the success of this annual event.
The Bald Headed Bistro and The Village Green are donating the venue and kitchen. Mayfield Dairy and Cooke’s Food Store are contributing food products and time, the Cleveland Daily Banner is assisting with promotion of the event, and Kingsway Press and Kiwanis member Vince McLaughlin printed the tickets.
• The Kiwanis club breakfast is one of two breakfast events scheduled for Saturday morning.
MADD, Mother’s Against Drunk Driving, has scheduled a breakfast from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Applebee’s Restaurant.
Proceeds from this breakfast will go to MADD. The breakfast is in memory of Dustin Ledford, a young Cleveland man who was killed two years ago in a two-car accident on APD 40. The driver of the second vehicle was convicted of driving under the influence and imprisoned.
