Ernest Norman Goodwin, 71, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at his residence.

He was a son of the late Ernie and Nanny Goodwin.

He enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid deer hunter.

He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, the Boilermaker’s Union, the Black Fox Ruritan Club, and the American Legion and was a part-time farmer.

He was a loving father, grandfather and brother.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Michael Goodwin; and sister, Helen Goodwin.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Melissa Goodwin of Cleveland; two daughters: Tina Park and Courtney Goodwin-Stuman, both of Cleveland; and brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Anna Jane Goodwin of Cleveland; grandchildren: Heather Park, Colby Goodwin, Mylee Goodwin, Ashlyn Stuman and Addison Stuman, all of Cleveland; a special friend, Ronnie Shoemaker; his former wife and caregiver, Marsha Goodwin of Cleveland; and a host of other extended family and friends.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday April 16, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church, 2514 Old Chattanooga Pike, S.W. Cleveland 37311, with the Rev. James Garner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Ed Campbell, Ronnie Shoemaker, Tommy Cash, Terry Stanfield, Wayne Richardson, and Dan Quinn serving as pallbearers. Emery Wrinkle, Sammy Brown, Nick Dempsey, Richard Witt, Eric Elkins, Lee Penny, and Mark Bullington, will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church and on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Hospital, or Hospice of Chattanooga, in memory of Norman.
