He was preceded in death by his father, Pat N. Thigpen; grandparents, Ira Von and Edith Thigpen, J.T. and Lucy Jones; and his grandmother, Bertha Jones.
He served in the United States Air Force for 12 years. He enjoyed reading, texting and Facebook. He was a member of Candies Creek Baptist Church, and at the time of his death was attending West Cleveland Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughters: Olivia Cain and her husband, Jimmy, and Chloe´ Thigpen, all of Cleveland; mother, Katharine J. Thigpen of Cleveland; sisters: Patti Bivens and her husband, the Rev. John Bivens, of Cleveland, and Pamala Davis and her husband, Lance, of Hixson; brother, Hugh Thigpen and his wife, Teresa, of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will held at 8 p.m. today, April 16, 2012, at the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. John Bivens and Matthew Ward officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Veterans Section of Fort Hill Cemetery with military honors to conclude the service.
Doyle Hawkins, Paul Matthews, James Wise, Wesley Wise, Ronnie Haney and Kevin Headrick will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. prior to the service today at the funeral home.
