Betty Kate “Mamaw” Staton, 74, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012, at her home.
She was the daughter of the late William Hatmaker and Lura Monroe Hatmaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Staton; son, Tommy Staton; sister, Helen Stooksbury and brother, Willie Hatmaker.
She enjoyed flowers and gardening and attended Everlasting Gospel Tabernacle. The love of her life was her family.
Survivors include her sons: Michael Staton, Terry Staton and his wife, Mary, and Johnny Staton and his wife, Angie, all of Cleveland; daughter, Linda Slack and her husband, Lee, of Cleveland; 12 grandchildren: Billy Staton, Arty Staton, Jacob Staton, Brandy Finnell, Dana Slack, Shana Staton, Nikki Staton, Nathaniel Staton, Samantha Staton, Matt Staton, Zach Staton and Joci Staton; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers: Mack Hatmaker and his wife, Renate, and Wilbur Hatmaker, all of Cleveland; a sister, Shirley Bennett of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Johnny Staton and Pastor Paul Fox officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery with Billy Staton, Arty Staton, Matt Staton, Lee Slack, Travis Finnell and Jacob Staton serving as pallbearers. Nathaniel Staton will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
