Fredonia Bluegrass Band from the Sequatchie Valley area will headline the free Cowboy Gospel Jubilee Friday night at 7.

“Fredonia Bluegrass has a stellar reputation for excellent picking and singing,” said Will Nichols, producer of the weekly Opry-style show. “They perform at the most popular festivals and venues all over the area.”

The band is composed of Danny Griffith who plays guitar and shares lead and harmony vocals with Kim Price. Price also plays the upright bass. Brian Price picks the banjo and plays guitar while Bruce Nunley plays the fiddle. They both pitch in with harmony vocals.

“Fredonia got rave reviews at the Birchwood Opry and are scheduled to headline the Ramp Tramp over in Polk County later this month.” continued Nichols. “As good as they are, it’s no wonder they stay so busy.”

The Cowboy Gospel Jubilee is held at the Cleveland Cowboy Church in the Dockery Heights community, between Blue Springs and Blackburn Roads. It features both gospel and moral secular music performed in a variety of genres.

Also appearing on the Cowboy Jubilee stage is Southern gospel singer Amy McAlister along with singer-songwriter Elmer Bramlett. “The Wild Man” Danny O’Boyle picks guitar, plays harmonica and sings. Plus, the Cowboy Church Band and Chorale always opens the show.

Nichols, known as “The Gospel Gun”, is a crowd favorite and serves as host and announcer.
