A man who was shot earlier this month died during the weekend.

John L. Penn, 66, had been shot in the neck April 6, according to Bradley County Sheriff’s Office investigators.

The shooting incident occurred at Penn’s Keith Valley Road residence in the early morning hours.

BCSO deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to the home just before 3 a.m. that day.

Penn was transported to Erlanger Medical Center for treatment.

According to Bob Gault, media relations coordinator for BCSO, Criminal Investigations Division investigators responded to the scene after the initial call.

“At this time — which is very early in the investigation — information I have received from the detectives is that the shooting appears at this time to be domestic related,” Gault said, after CID investigators arrived on the scene.

Gault also indicated the victim was shot with a handgun, but the caliber was not known at the time of his report.

No suspect information has been released nor an arrest made and an autopsy has been requested, according to Gault.

The investigation is continuing.
