The forecast for opening night of the Evening Shade Concert Series on Friday, May 4, is warm and rain-free, according to Charter and The Weather Channel, exclusive sponsors of the kick-off for the 18th annual series. The popular free family-friendly concerts will be held each Friday night in May at 6:30 p.m.at Johnson Park in Historic Downtown Cleveland.

The Evening Shade Concert Series, presented by the Allied Arts Council of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce, attracts an audience of more than 500 each week.

Because May also brings spring storms and unpredictable weather patterns to the Mid-South, Charter and The Weather Channel will arm concertgoers with tips on how to prepare for and stay safe during severe weather and provide emergency weather kits, on a first-come, first-served basis. Charter and The Weather Channel will also present a donation to the Hiwassee Chapter of the American Red Cross to support weather safety and recovery efforts in Cleveland and surrounding communities.

“Charter appreciates this opportunity to join with The Weather Channel to not only support the Evening Shade Concert Series and American Red Cross, but also to share best practices on how to stay safe during severe weather occurrences,” said Aimee Pfannenstiel, vice president and general manager of Charter’s Tennessee operations.

Series audiences enjoy quality artists from various genres of music and entertainment. Headliner for the May 4 concert is noted vocalist E.G. Kight, whose broad musical scope includes Americana, southern rock, blues, pop, jazz, gospel and funk.
