William “Poley” McDonald, 68, a lifetime resident of Benton, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, at his home.

He was retired from Bowater after 37 years of service. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church in Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin “Sharp” and Betty Townsend McDonald; sister, Eunice Franks Howard; daughter-in-law, Renee Russell McDonald; and nephews, Bill Franks and Tim Musgrove.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Adams McDonald of Benton; son, Allen “Cotton” McDonald of Maryville; daughter, Amanda Frank and husband, Eric, of Greasy Creek; grandchildren, Morgan, Dylan and Sarah Frank, all of Greasy Creek, who were the loves of his life; sisters, Betty Jo Musgrove, Jeannie Whittemore and husband, Jay, and Diane Greene and husband, Gary, all of Cleveland and Sue Stone and husband, Roy, of Benton; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Josh Brown officiating.

Interment will follow in Old Ocoee Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
