Saez turned in another solid week for the Flames earning seven hits in 14 plate appearances. The junior catcher raised his batting average to .329, including a double and a home run in his hit total. Saez also added five runs batted in, two stolen bases and three runs scored.
The Flames waited to use Hall until the winner’s bracket final. The move paid off as the junior righty hurled six innings against Shorter University allowing no runs on two hits in the 9-4 win. On the season, Hall is now 10-0 with a 1.37 earned run average.
Monday’s contest could decide the tournament championship. The No.5 Flames (49-8-1) will battle the winner of the 2 p.m. contest between Shorter and No. 3 Faulkner University. With a Flames loss, the two teams will return to play a winner take all contest Tuesday afternoon. All the Lee games will be broadcast locally on 101.3 FM and Stretch Internet.
