Lee University will be streaming Spring Commissioning and Commencement live tonight and Saturday.

The graduation services will be streamed in high definition with four separate cameras, as a part of the Video Production Center’s coverage of this event. One of the cameras mounted on a boom will allow a bird’s eye view of the graduate receiving their diploma. This stream can be accessed from home computers, iPads, and iPhones.

“These new features will provide those unable to attend the best seat in the house,” said Dr. Ron Gilbert, producer of the event. Gilbert serves as the Lee University director of Media Services and is also an assistant professor of communication. “Last year, our live stream was accessed from over 30 different countries and almost every state,” shared Gilbert.

“Each year we receive written thanks from parents and families of graduates that were able to watch their loved one receive their diploma without being present. One such note was received from a father that had watched his daughter graduate live while he was on active duty, on board an aircraft carrier stationed in the Middle East.”

Commissioning service will be held at 6:30 tonight on Lee’s soccer field. Dr. Don Bowdle, distinguished professor of history and religion at Lee, will address graduates and guests at commencement Saturday morning at 9:30, also on the soccer field, weather permitting.

This live stream feature will be available for access through Lee’s website at www.leeuniversity.edu and clicking on the link provided on the homepage.
