Mildred Alberta Clements Thompson was born April 7, 1935, in Cleveland, to the late Mattie (Dunn) and Ruben Roosevelt Clements.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Nehemiah Clement; and her sister, Mary E. Clements Goldston.

She leaves to cherish her memories her three daughters: Zenobia (Thomas) Miller of Nashville, Phyllis (Jack) Wells, and Margaret (Johnny) Ramsey, all of Cleveland; her sons: Calvin (Susan) Thompson Jr., Ricky Thompson and Robert E. Thompson, all of Cleveland; three sisters: Naomi Manning of Nashville, and Peggy (Robert) Johnson and Emma Jo Thomas, both of Cleveland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

As a child she attended High Point School in Charleston, where she enjoyed playing around the flagpole. She graduated from College Hill High School. She was a member of Mount Eagle Baptist Church and later moved to Greens’ Chapel, both in Charleston.

She was married to the late Calvin Leslie Thompson for 29 years before his passing, and to this union was born six children. She enjoyed fishing, game shows and working in the garden, and she loved strawberries.

The body may be viewed Tuesday, May 8, 2012, from 8 a.m till 7 p.m. at Patton Funeral Home Chapel, 265 Fair St., Cleveland.

A graveside service will be Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2 p.m.

The family will assemble the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. and will be departing at 1 p.m.
