Howard Calvin “Anymore” Culberson, 87, was called home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, May 5, 2012, in a local health care facility.
He was born in Copper Hill, and joined the United States Navy at the age of 19. He served in the Navy during World War II on the Battleship USS Iowa, receiving an honorable discharge. After serving in the Navy, he came to live in Cleveland.
In 2003, he was the recipient of the Disabled American Veteran of the Year award for the Bradley County Chapter. He was retired from DuPont and was an avid UT football fan.
He was of the Church of God faith.
He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Emory and Siddie Armanda Culberson; brother, Lake Culberson; sisters: Ethel Chancey, Myrtle Corn, Wanda Cannon, and Hazel Dockey; and grandson, Davey Holt.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anne Culberson; daughters: Robin Fiveash of Cleveland, Leanne Fuller of Greenville, S.C., and Caroline (Bill) Holt of Lake City; grandchildren: Joseph Fiveash, Amy Ledford, Alan Holt, Ryan Holt, and Grant Holt; and several nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight Richardson officiating.
Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Joseph Fiveash, Brian Culberson, Jeff Culberson, Lynn Culberson, Jason Ledford, Alan Holt and Bill Holt serving as pallbearers.
A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
