Terry Dale Goforth, 62, of Calhoun, made his final journey home early Wednesday, May 9, 2012, in a Chattanooga hospital, following a brief illness.

He entered the world on July 11, 1949, in Athens, and lived his entire life in McMinn Co.

He was the youngest of 12 children born to Jessie Jake and Ella Moore Goforth. He was a loving son, husband, and friend to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

He graduated from Calhoun High School in 1968 and attended Cleveland State Community College. He was employed by Bowater Southern Paper Corp., retiring in 2011 after 42 years of service. He was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Terri Ann Goforth; sisters: Irene Richardson, Annabell Sneed, Dean Emmitt, JoAnn Bailey; brothers: Fred Goforth, Harvy Goforth, Jimmy Goforth and J.C. Goforth; and father-in-law, Harold Creasman.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Goforth; sisters: Edna Swafford, Joyce Johnson, Patricia Storer and sister and brother-in-law, Melvin and Mary Key; sisters-in-law: Rose Goforth and Carol Goforth; brother-in-law, Ben Richardson; special mother-in-law, Violet Creasman; special sister and brother-in-law, Eddie and Patti Smith and their children, Brad, Katie and Forrest Smith and Kent and Cayci Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Cheatham officiating.

Interment will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012, in Calhoun Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. Barry Pusher officiating.

Eddie Smith, Dillard Smith, Nathan Melton, Michael Liner, Jonathan Jones, Tommy Jones, Jeff Miller, Bill Pittman, Larry and Rick Swafford will be serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
