An adult summer reading program, “Between the Covers,” will run from May 15 through August 15. Adults are required to read 12 books. Each month there will be a drawing for a $20 gift card from participants who complete a book review for that month’s book genre. At the end of the program there will be a drawing for participants who completed the requirements for an Amazon Kindle, a MP3 player and a $50 gift certificate to Amazon.com. “A Taste of English Gardens” will be presented May 22 at 7 p.m. in the Cleveland Bradley Community Room by Master Gardener Ruth Baumgardner, owner of Mouse Creek Perennial Farms.

“What Keeps You Up at Night” will be the next program at the library by Della Lowe from the Sleep Labs of the South on June 12 at 7 p.m. Registration has begun for all of our summer reading programs including children and teens. All events are open at no charge to the public.

Friends of the Library Association will hold its Book and Coffee review on May 18 at the Craigmiles-Johnston House History Branch Library at 10 a.m. The Rev. Joel Huffstetler from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will review Pat Conroy’s “My Reading Life.” All are invited to attend this free FOLA event. You don’t have to have read the book to enjoy the review, and FOLA supplies the coffee!

The Teen program, “Own the Night,” will kick off with an after hours masquerade party Phantom of the Opera style on June 15 at 7 p.m. at the library. TAG has scheduled different activities for teens all summer including game nights, improv class, Manga/Anime drawing, movies, and many after hour events. Check out the library’s website for details.

Calico Squares group dances in the second floor Community Room at the Garden Plaza of Cleveland, 3500 Keith St. N.W., every Tuesday from 7:30-9:30 p.m. For more information, call Teresa at 479-7790.

Day Out With Thomas the Tank will be May 12 at the station at Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. For more information, go to www.thomasandfirends.com. The event will include train rides, games, activities, arts and crafts and the opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt, controller of the railway.

The Fine Arts Academy of First Cumberland Presbyterian church will present a spring recital on May 17 at 6 p.m. in the Dixon Center at Lee University. The recital wil linclude 54 piano and vocal students.

The Gem Players commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War with the stage production of Frank W.
