THE 14TH annual Tennessee Christian Preparatory School Golf Classic was held recently at the Cleveland Country Club with 16 teams participating in a 4-man select-shot tournament. The day was full of excitement including a hole-in-one on No. 17 by coach Jason Sewell from Cleveland State. TCPS golf coach Marcos Montez won the putting contest and Tony Green was the winner of the longest drive. The team from Pioneer Credit was named first-place tournament champions, which included, from left, Barry Brakebill, TCPS fifth-grader Kyle West, Green and coach Montez.

CSCC TOURNAMENTS

Cleveland State will host a series of summer baseball tournaments at Cougar Field. June 2-3, 16-under, enter by May 11. June 8-10, 18-under, enter by May 18. June 16,-17, 15-under enter by May 25. June 23-24, 14-under and 13-under, enter by June 1. The 15-under tournament and 16-under tournament will be three games of pool play and championship. The cost is $350 and a half-dozen balls. The 18-under tournament will be four games of pool play and championship. The cost is $400 and a dozen balls. The 14-under and 13-under tournament will be three games of pool play and championship. WALKER VALLEY BASEBALL CAMP

The Walker Valley Baseball Camp will be held May 29-June 1, from 8-11 a.m.at the Bradley County Recreation Park on Urbane Road. The camp is for ages 5-12 with a cost of $50 per camper. For more information contact coach Joe Shamblin at 584-6494 or Mike Turner at 595-2640.

LEE CAMP

Lee University will host its annual Baseball School Sessions on June 11-15. The day school at Olympic Field is for ages 5-15. The cost will be $90 per person or $160 for two brothers. The advanced hitting, pitching and catching camp is slated for July 9-11 and is for ages 8-17. The cost is $60 for hitting instructions and $45 for pitching and catching. CSCC CAMPS

Cleveland State Baseball Coach Mike Policastro will conduct the following summer baseball camps at Cougar Field: Youth Skills Camp, June 4-7, 2012, for ages 6 - 12. Camp hours will be 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Campers will participate in group instruction and participate in a game each day. The cost will be $75 and includes a camp T-shirt. The Youth Pitcher/Catcher Camp will take place June 11-13, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A Youth Hitting Camp will be held June 18-20, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Both camps will be for ages 8 - 16. The camps will consist of advanced instruction on the fundamentals of pitching, catching and hitting. The cost will be $60 per session and includes a camp T-shirt. There will be a $5 discount per camp registration if a camper registers for more than one of the camps.

CMS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS

Conditioning and tryouts for the sixth, seventh and eighth grade 2012-13 Lady Raiders basketball teams will begin May 10. Seventh and eighth grades will be after school from 2:35 until 4, and sixth grade will begin at 6. the teams will practice and attend summer team camps, finishing up their summer schedule by June 19th. HEART OF A CHAMPION TOURNEY

The Colby Stansberry Heart of a Champion Challenge 3-on-3 will be held May 19 at Cleveland Middle School with warm up time starting at 8:30 a.m. The starting time of the challenge 9 a.m. Free admission to come, watch and have fun. All proceeds go to the Colby Stansberry Scholarship Memorial Fund.

OCOEE MIDDLE CAMP

A shooting, ball handling and fundamentals basketball camp led by coach Joe Spencer and OMS assistants will be held May 29-June 1 from 5-8 p.m. at Ocoee Middle school for girls and boys ages six and up. The cost is $50 and includes free T-shirts. All shots and shooting positions will be taught along with basketball fundamentals and ball handling. Sign up will be held the first day of camp.

BEARETTE BASKETBALL CAMP

The 2012 Bradley Central Bearettes Basketball Camp will be held May 30-June 1 with daily sessions running from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Open to ages 5-14 basic game fundamentals will be taught by head coach Jason Rueter and assistants Kyle Copeland and Katie Nelson, plus the Bearette basketball team. Cost for participation is $55 for all three days or $45 for just two days.T-shirts and camper awards will be provided. For more information call 284-2135.

BEAR BASKETBALL CAMP

The 16th annual Bradley Central Bears Basketball Camp will be held June 4-6 with instruct from head coach Kent Smith and assistant Chuck Clark, plus current and former Bear players. The daily sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. until noon and are open to boys between the ages of 6-14. The $50 cost includes a T-shirt and basic basketball skills instruction. CLEVELAND BASKETBALL CAMP

The Cleveland Basketball camp for boys ages 6-15 and featuring Vincent Yarbrough will be held June 11-14 from 9 a.m. until noon at CHS. The cost for the camp is $55 with a brother rate of $85. Another $5 will be saved if pre-registration is done before May 25. Concessions will be available. LADY RAIDER CAMP

The Cleveland Lady Raiders Individual Basketball Camp fir girls in grades 1-8 will be held June 18-20 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the CHS Raider Dome. The cost is $50 per camper, snacks will be provided. The camp will be instructed by CHS coaches Mindy Kiser, Laura Hudson, Karen Hall and current and former Lady Raider players. The focus will be on fundamentals of basketball and individual skill enhancement as well as passing, shooting, ball handling and defensive drills. There will also be competitive games and contests. Participants will receive individualized instruction, a certificate of completion and a camp T-shirt.

MUSTANGS CAMP

The Walker Valley Mustangs Basketball Camp for grades K-8 will be held June 18-21 from 9 a.m. until noon 12:00 at WVHS. The gym will open at 8:30. The cost is $50 per camper with sibling discounts. MARTY ROWE SKILLS AND DRILLS

The Marty Rowe Skills and Drills Basketball Camp will be held June 25-29 at Lee University’s Walker Arena. CHS PHYSICALS

Physicals for athletes planning to attend Cleveland High School for the 2013-13 school year will be held May 23 in the Wrestling Building. This will be the only date CHS will offer free physicals this year. Athletes that do not attend the physicals on this date will be responsible for getting a physical from their primary physician on their own. Forms are available through team coaches. GOLF

VVA GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Vietnam Veterans of America Edward G. Sharpe Chapter 596 will be hosting its 19th annual golf tournament on Saturday, May 26 at the Chatata Valley Golf and County Club. Registration for the event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with tee time beginning at 9. Hole sponsorship is $100 per hole. The cost is $60 per person with two person teams. It is $10 per mulligan with a limit of two per person. Cash prizes inlcue $300 for first place, $150 for fourth place, and $50 for seventh and tenth places. There will also be prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin. Also, drawings for door prizes will take place after the tournament and a $500 prize for a Hole-In-One on a selected hole. JUNIOR GOLF CLINIC

The Bradley County Junior Golf Clinic hosted by Cleveland Country Club for ages 5-17 will begin June 4. Pre-registration will be held May 5 and 12 from 9 a.m. until noon in the CCC Golf Shop. The dates for the clinic are ; June 4, 11, 18, 25 and July 9, 23 and 30. Ages 5-10 will go from 8-9:30 a.m. and ages 11-17 will go from 9:45-11:15 a.m.. There will be a final tournament Aug. 6. KM TENNIS CLINICS

Registration is open for the 2012 Kay McDaniel Tennis Clinics. The events will be held June 4-8 at the DeVos Tennis Center with girls’ sessions running from 8:30 to 10 a.m., while the boys will come in from 10:30 until noon. This marks the 21st year the former professional player has offered free tennis clinics for area youth from ages 6-13. CMS WRESTLING CAMP

The Cleveland Middle School Wrestling Camp for grades five through eight will be held June 12-15 from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with lunch provided each day. The cost for the camp is $75. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. on June 12. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt at the conclusion of the camp.
