The Alzheimer’s Association recently held a luncheon at the Bald-Headed Bistro to recognize the top fundraisers from the 2011 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Twelve people were inducted into the inaugural Champions Club, an honor bestowed on everyone who raises $500 or more.

Three people raised more than $1,000 and the top fundraiser for 2011 was Susan Monk, who raised over $1,800 in memory of her mother, who died from Alzheimer’s disease.

The top corporate teams were Life Care Center of Cleveland, Signature Healthcare of Cleveland, Grissom Funeral Home and the Cleveland Daily Banner. Top family teams were Stashbusters, Frank Carter team and Love Nancy.

The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

The 2012 walk is scheduled for Sept. 29 on the Cleveland/Bradley County Greenway.
