A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Beta Sigma Phi members who died this year was conducted at the annual Founder’s Day dinner. Beta Sigma Phi Sorority held the annual Founder’s Day dinner on April 23 at the Cleveland Elk’s Club with Epsilon Delta Masters serving as host.

Chapter president Jeanne Beavers led the opening ritual. Brenda Hjellum gave the Beta Sigma Phi Grace and Jane Pettit led the Founder’s Day Pledge.

The 37-year Perfect Attendance Award was presented to Wilma Jean Pippenger. Each chapter’s Valentine’s Queen was recognized by Ms. Beavers.The ladies honored were Xi Delta Phi Queen Judi Brooks, Laureate Zeta Queen Vickie Beaty and Epsilon Delta Master Betty Ballard.

Carolyn Harris introduced the new council members and Council President Verdonna Mickel addressed the members.

Sherry Torp presented the Woman of the Year award to Jeanne Beavers.

Other nominees for Woman of the Year were Billie Ammons of Xi Delta Phi and Kay Martin of Laureate Zeta.

A memorial service was conducted in memory of three sorority members, Ruth Varnell, Jean Hamm and Betty Ballard, who died during the last year. LaRonda Cochran conducted the closing ritual.
