On a rainy Monday at Chatata Valley Golf Club, middle school golfers gathered for the season ending Southeast Tennessee middle school golf regional championship.
Six boys and girls teams, along with a dozen individuals, qualified for the region through district tournaments. Several local teams were well represented at the event including teams from Cleveland Middle, Ocoee Middle, Chilhowee Middle and an individual from Lake Forest.
The girls from Ocoee Middle brought home the runner-up trophy in the rain-shortened 13-hole event finishing seven strokes behind champion Signal Mountain. Katie Medley led the charge for the Lady Colts finishing with a 13-hole total of 64, good enough to finish second individually. Kelsey Cassada and Olivia Williams added a 70 and 73 for the Ocoee ladies.
Chilhowee Middle finished third in the tournament with Danielle Bates finishing third individually carding a 64.
Cleveland Middle’s girls were represented by Rheagan Hall, who finished 13 holes with a 65, just one stroke out of third place medalist honors.
Loftis Middle brought home the boys title firing a 327, two shots better than runner up McCallie and seven shots better than third place Ocoee Middle.
Dylan Lillard paced the Colts firing a 2-under par 70 in route to individual medalist honors. Also competing for Ocoee, Cory Rollins added an 81 while Baylor McGowan and Nick McCracken added 90 and 93 respectively.
