Nellie Irene Saffels, 83, a resident of Cleveland passed away Friday, May 18, 2012, in a local health care facility.

She was the daughter of the late, Lilly Cox Moore and Clea Moore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harvel “Red” Saffels; infant son, Bobby Saffels; daughter, Nancy Kaylor; brothers: Wayne Moore and Milton Moore; and sisters: Gladys Lewis, Virginia Castelle Brock and Ira Lee Fugate.

She worked at Kellmans as a seamstress. She cooked sewed, crocheted, enjoyed birds and vegetables and flower gardens and loved taking care of her family.

She is survived by her son, Ronnie Saffels and his wife, Janet, of Cleveland; son-in-law, Danny Kaylor of Cleveland; grandchildren: Becky and Scoop Aikens and Jessie and Amy Kaylor, all of Cleveland, Scott Bowling of Ringgold, Ga.; great-grandchildren: Tamara Yarber, Matthew Yarber, Shelby Kaylor, Erica Kaylor and Isaiah Aikens; great-grandson, Joseph Yarber; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Gary Higgins officiating.

Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Jessie Kaylor, Tamara Yarber, Matthew Yarber, Benjie Pope, Billy Baxter, Bryan Yarber and Scott Bowling serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
