Boy Scouts to help place flags on graves of veterans

Bradley County Boy Scouts will place U.S. Flags on the graves of veterans throughout the county on Saturday morning.

The Scouts will assemble in the courthouse plaza at 8:30 a.m. for the presentation of the colors and Pledge of Allegiance led by Troop 44.

Jimmy Johnson Sr., vice commander-elect, VFW Post 2598 will offer the invocation and VFW 2598 Post Commander-elect Al Hamilton will speak briefly on Memorial Day.

About 1,500 flags will be distributed between 9 and 9:30 a.m., and the Scouts dispersed to about 16 cemeteries.

At 11:30 a.m., the Scouts will be treated to an outdoor picnic of hot dogs and chili at the VFW located at 3370 North Ocoee St.
