Marshall Muir, 77, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the family residence.
He was the son of the late Maybelle Ball Muir and Clarence Muir. His brother, Robert Muir, also preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Miami Jackson High School in Miami. He played football in high school and later played for a semi-pro team, the Miami Barracudas. The Barracudas later became the Miami Dolphins, for whom he played for one year.
He worked for and retired from the Miami Lincoln Mercury Dealership with 30 years of service in the Parts Department and retired as a Parts Department manager. He loved woodworking, building furniture, traveling with his wife and fishing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member of the Cleveland Cowboy Church.
Survivors include his wife, Christine “Chris” Muir of Cleveland; daughter, Sherri Webb of Fort Myers, Fla.; his stepdaughter, Linda Odom Schlageter and her husband, Leonard “Bud” Schlageter, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; his grandsons: Kipton Webb of Virginia, Cory Hall of Fort Myers, Fla.; his stepgranddaughter, Rhonda Schlageter McCraw; his stepgrandsons: Robert Scott Schlageter and Joel Schlageter; his great-grandchildren: John, Jacqueline and Alex Schlageter, Michelle, Monica and Marshall McCraw; his great-great-grandson, Jayce Schlageter; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, from the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Wally Varnell officiating.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Cleveland Cowboy Church, 3040 Blythe Road Cleveland, TN 37311 and to the Zion Hill Baptist Church, 446 Kimsey Dairy Road, Turtle Town TN 37391.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
