She was a member of Elkmont Baptist Church. She served as past president of the Bradley County Republican Women. She was a supervisor for Coppinger Color Lab for 24 years. She retired as the office manager of the Bradley County Road Department after 10 years of service due to her illness.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was affectionately known as “Nana.” She was an avid gardner; she loved flowers and enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elmer and Lizzie Goins and Ben and Stella Neely.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tom “Toad” Collins of Cleveland; parents, Herman and Virginia Goins of Cleveland; two children: Shannon Collins and Todd Collins and wife, Danielle, all of Cleveland; four grandchildren: Skylar Burns, Neeley Collins, Delaney Collins and Kirby Collins, all of Cleveland; three siblings: Gary Goins and wife, Linda, Shelia Renia Wright and Michael Goins and wife, Shelia, all of Cleveland; brother-in-law, Johnny Collins and wife, Regina, of Cleveland; sisters-in-law: Imogene Collins, Shelby Smith and husband, Lamar, all of Cleveland, Linda Crittenden and husband, J.B., and Patsy Harris and husband, Curtis, all of Charleston and Sharon Carden of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; and her puppies: Corky and Chigger.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastors Johnny Hood and Gary Sears officiating.
Interment will follow in the Beaty Cemetery with Brad Collins playing the bagpipes and with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. The Bradley County Road Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
