Heidi Longwith is the artistic director. Current staff includes Paula Duff Varnell, Heather Wilcoxon Hayes, Hillary Tedrick, Whitney Roberts Caylor, Bethany Kline and Ashley Heald.
Summer dance lessons are from June 4 to Aug. 2 with private and group lessons in ballet. The Pointe Intensive for beginning pointe students, or those who wish to further refine their pointe technique, is offered on Tuesday and Wednesday at 5:30 with Heidi Longwith for eight weeks.
Princess Camp for the youngest of ballerinas, ages 3-6 years of age, is offered June 25-29. Each day a new princess is explored through dance and culminates with a performance at the studio for parents at the end of the week.
Fall dance lessons begin Aug. 6 and continue through May 2013.
Tennessee Youth Ballet offers lessons in Creative Movement, Dance Music and Story time, Kindergarten dance, Preballet, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz/Lyrical/Hip-Hop and Tap for dancers 3 years of age through adult.
Private lesson are also available. Tennessee Youth Ballet has a Competition Dance Team, as well as a Pre-Professional Dance Company, for intermediate and advanced dancers.Tennessee Youth Ballet will perform Act I and Act II of “The Nutcracker” ballet on Dec. 8 and 9 at the Dixon Center on the campus of Lee University.
Stephanie Bussell, a soloist from the Charleston Ballet, will perform the Sugar Plum Fairy with her Cavalier. Her performance is sponsored by Drs. Brad and LuAnne Winn of Winn Smiles.The 2013 spring performance, “Ballerina Swan,” is based on the new book by Allegra Kent, a former principal dancer with the New York City Ballet.
Kent allows the story to unfold as a baby swan wishes with her whole heart to become a ballerina. Act II of “Swan Lake” will also be featured in this performance, as well as a third act of jazz and tap.
