“What Keeps You Up at Night” will be the next program at the library by Della Lowe from the Sleep Labs of the South on June 12 at 7 p.m. Registration has begun for all of our summer reading programs including children and teens. All events are open at no charge to the public.
The Teen program, “Own the Night,” will kick off with an after-hours masquerade party “Phantom of the Opera” style on June 15 at 7 p.m. at the library. TAG has scheduled different activities for teens all summer, including game nights, improv class, Manga/Anime drawing, movies, and many after-hours events. “Dream Big … READ!” is the theme for this year’s children’s program at the library. The kickoff date is June 9 at 2 p.m. The program will run June 11 through July 27. Stop by the Children’s Desk to register for summer activity sessions that will be held each week.

A Book Club discussion — the first — will be held June 14 at 1 p.m. in the Community Room at the library. Carolyn Harris will lead a discussion on Robert Hicks’ novel, “Widow of the South.” All adults are invited to participate in this adult summer reading event. No registration is needed to attend this Book Club discussion.
The Scholastic Book Fair will continue through June 4. There will be great opportunities to purchase some wonderful children’s books at a special prices. All books will be buy one — get one free.
A SUMMER KIDS’ EVENT called Sky will be hosted by The Salvation Army at Cleveland’s Deer Park June 18-22. At Sky, faith and imagination will soar as kids discover that everything is possible with God. Children will participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and dig into yummy treats, experience electrifying Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them to trust God and test out science-fun gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long. Kids will also learn to look for evidence of God all around them. Each day will conclude with Fly Away Finale — a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in the Sky finale on June 22. Sky is for kids from first through sixth grade and will run from 10 a.m. to noon each day.
