Beaverdam Road in Monroe County will be subject to closure on weekdays while logging operations are under way to remove dead hemlock trees, according to USDA Forest Service officials at the Cherokee National Forest.

Dead hemlock trees adjacent to Beaverdam Road (FDR 24) will be removed for public safety and forest health purposes during the months of June and July, and possibly longer depending on weather conditions. Numerous hemlock trees were killed in this area by the insect infestation by the hemlock woolly adelgid.

Beaverdam Road is located in the Tellico Ranger District (Monroe County) off the Tellico River Road (FDR 210) near the North Carolina state line. The road will be closed to public access Monday through Thursday each week when logging operations are under way. For additional information, please contact the Tellico Ranger Station at 423-253-8400.
