
THE BRADLEY COUNTY COMMISSION on Monday honored companies that went above and beyond during volunteer relief efforts in the aftermath of the April 27, 2011, tornadoes. Chairman Louie Alford, left, recognized the companies during the Commission’s formal session and made presentations to Brad Smith of Walmart South, Cindy Slater of Whirlpool, Michael Baker of BB&T, Cheryl Dunson of Santek Environmental, Angela Sewell of Cormetech Environmental, Randall Slack of ACE Hardware, Ed Ramsey of WCLE and Ross Tarver of Tarver Distributing at Monday’s meeting. Life Care Centers of America, Caldwell Paving, KACE Construction, P&G Duracell, Gray Construction, Exel, Amazon Fulfillment Center, Lowe’s, First National Bank, Asplundh Tree Experts and Wright Brothers Construction were also honored, but did not have representatives attending the session. Each company that had a representative at Monday’s meeting received a certificate of recognition.
During a presentation to these companies, chairman Louie Alford spoke of how the relief brought the area together with businesses, individual volunteers, churches and other nonprofit organizations working side-by-side to aid in the community’s recovery which is still ongoing.
“Local businesses and industries were leaders in donations of supplies, equipment and labor to assist in the cleanup and recovery efforts,” Alford said. “There were numerous situations where local businesses sacrificed profit to assist those in need.”
ACE Hardware, Asplundh Tree Experts, Walmart South, Whirlpool, BB&T, Santek Environmental, Cormetech Environmental, WCLE, Tarver Distributing, Life Care Centers of America, Caldwell Paving, KACE Construction, P&G Duracell, Gray Construction, Exel, Amazon Fulfillment Center, Lowe’s, First National Bank and Wright Brothers Construction were honored for their efforts.
Such recognition of these companies was suggested by Commissioner J. Adam Lowe in a previous session. The list of companies was compiled by legislative assistant Amy Moore based on suggestions by the Commission.
