Triplett struggled a little in her first day of play, hitting an opening round 85. That put her 31st in a field of 55 golfers.
She started the round strong with a birdie on her first hole and a par on No. 2, but a double bogey on No. 3 seemed to throw her off her game for the rest of the day.
After being 4 over at the turn, she met a difficult back nine with double bogies on Nos. 10, 11, 13 and 14 and a bogey on No. 17 to put her 14 over on the day with an 85. She is currently in the middle of the pack in 31st place out of 55 golfers.
Today she tries to mount a comeback, teeing off at noon to start the second round of the three-day, 54-hole event.
Alexa Brooke Rippy of Clarksville, Manchester’s Jenna Burris and Sarah Harris of Heritage sit atop the leaderboard with opening round 3-over 74s.
