MURFREESBORO — Local golf standout Lydia Triplett settled for a three-way tie for 21st at the 49th Annual Girls’ Junior Amateur Championship at Stones River Country Club in Murfreesboro.

She was unable to get a rhythm established during her closing round Thursday, and finished with an 83 on the day.

After shooting an 85 in her opening round, the Polk County High School rising senior came back during her second 18 holes with a 4-over 74.

Throughout the tournament, Triplett birdied four holes and made 24 pars in the three-day event.

Sarah Harris of Hermitage put on a virtual clinic during day three to win the championship with a combined 216.

The University of Kentucky golfer never fell from her first place spot. She opened play with a 3-over 74 to enter into a three-way tie for first.

But, she put distance between herself and the rest of the field with even par second and third rounds.

Harris finished the event with six birdies and 37 pars.

Chatata Valley Ladies recently held their annual Member-Member Golf Tournament, with the team of Mickey Wooten and Debbie Patterson taking the top spot.

Delores Haynie and Honey Climber were one stroke back, claiming second place.

Coming in third were Beth Harper and Freeda Allegrati, while fourth place went to Carol Williams.

The ladies will host their annual invitational on July 27th.

TGA Junior Tour

Local youth golfers were in action Wednesday at the TGA Junior Tour event at the Lake Haven Golf and Country Club in Decatur.

Cleveland’s Nicholas McCracken took home the top spot in the boys’ 10-13 tour, shooting a 43.

Gage Brakebill also grabbed a first-place finish with a 1-over 37 in the boys’ 10-11 micro.

Tripp Hall of Charleston notched a second place finish in the boys’ 4-7 with a 42.

Rheagan Hall of Charleston shot a 45 to win the girls’ 12-18 tour. Olivia Williams of Cleveland was right behind her, finishing second with a 48.

Cleveland’s Avery Shamblin took top spot in the girls’ 4-7 event with a 46, and, Kyndall Shamblin won first place in the girls’ 8-11 micro with an 4-over 40.
