The all-sports award is given each year to the institution that totals the most points based on each school’s finish in the conference. The highest point total (first, 6 points; second, 5 points, etc.) for six sports from the regular-season standings in team sports and conference championship tournaments in tennis, golf and cross country are divided by 6 for an average point total.
“One of the things I’m most proud of is how well-rounded our athletic department is,” said Carpenter after being presented the cup. “Winning the SSAC Commissioner’s Cup isn’t about one or two teams but the efforts of all our coaches and student athletes.”
Carpenter added, “I am blessed with what I feel is the best coaching staff in the country, one that not only is good at what they do, but understands our mission. The coaches work hard to find the right student athletes, then spend time to form relationships and train them at a level where we are vying for conference championships and ultimately the Commissioner’s Cup.”
