Richard Lee “Diamond Dick” Brady, 57, of the Sanford community near Riceville, went to be with his Lord early Thursday morning, July 5, 2012, at his residence, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County, and was a son of Emerson Brady and the late Ida Mae Bowers Brady.

He was a member of Sanford Baptist Church, and was a graduate of Calhoun High School. He coached Calhoun Little League baseball and was active in the 4H Club dairy shows. He was associated with Bowater Southern Paper Corp for 32 years and was a well-known farmer with a specialty in Jersey cows.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Womac Brady; his father, Emerson Brady; and son, Wesley Lee Brady, all of Riceville; granddaughter, Sydney Brady; and grandson, Bryan Ownby; two sisters: Dianne Fetzer of Benton and Janie Wiseman of Riceville; brother, Sam Brady of Calhoun, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at Sanford Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Purdie, Justin Brown and Steve Beavers officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Sanford Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Harris, Kyle Harris, Grant Brown, Chris Garringer, Joey Kincaid and Jerry Swafford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Barham, Walter Barham, Bryan Ownby, Taylore Wiseman and Ben Wiseman.
