Emma Maria Smith Caywood, 90, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012, in a Chattanooga hospital.
She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She was a past member of the Ocoee Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Caywood; parents, Steve Maynard and Matilda Brooks Smith; four brothers: Frank Noah McKinley, Ernest Maynard Smith, William Smith and Robert Smith; and two sisters: Willie Mae Thompson and Mary Lou Sadler.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Wilma and Curtis Hicks and Luci and Ronnie Moore; one son and daughter-in-law: Tommy and Stacy Caywood, all of Cleveland; five grandchildren: Maria Hicks and fiancée Matt Rayfield, Curtis Ray Hicks, Brandi and Joey Rue, all of Cleveland, Cody and Emily Thomas of Murfreesboro, and Josh Caywood of Cleveland; one great-granddaughter, Madison Rue; stepgrandchildren: Kile and Lauren Moore; special cousin, Dovie Buckner of Cleveland; honorable son, Leroy Dannell of Spring City; one sister, Chiquita Weiss of Mena, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 8, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Caywood officiating.
Matthew Ward, Doyle Hawkins, Ross Heinricy, Josh Caywood, Joey Rue, and Johnny McKinley will serve as pallbearers, with Ralph Chase serving as an honorary pallbearer.
Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony.
