She was a lifelong member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board, Kitchen Committee and the Missionary Board. She was a faithful member until her health began to fell.
She was a graduate of College Hill High School, Morristown Junior College and Tennessee State University in Nashville, where she obtained her master’s degree. She became a teacher because of her love for children. She taught in the Dalton, Ga., School System for more than 20 years, and in the Cleveland School system at North Cleveland and East Cleveland, from which she retired.
She possessed a gentle, kind, caring and loving spirit, always sharing a kind word with all. She loved reading books, magazines, newspapers, but most of all she enjoyed reading her Bible.
Some of her favorite things were working in her yard (Lily being her favorite flower). She also loved cooking, coconut cake and watching “The Jeffersons” television show.
She was preceded death by her parents, Author L. and Mamie Moore Arnold; sisters: Eula Dean and Virginia E. Arnold; her brother, John W. Arnold; her aunts: Kitty (Lesley) Hill, and Susie (J.D.) Bowerman; and uncles: Rubin (Arlena) Moore, J.P. (Catharine) Moore, and William (Myrtle) Moore.
Living to cherish her memory is her loving and caring sister, Norman Jean Hopkins; other relatives, friends, along with her Shiloh Church family, by whom she is already missed.
The body may be viewed Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Patton Funeral Home Chapel, 265 Fair St. S.E.
Family will receive friends Sunday, July 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. until the 2:30 p.m. service time at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 3434 Blair Road.
Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Mausoleum. The Rev. Alfred B. Johnson Sr. will be the eulogist.
