Tickets are now on sale for the United Way of Bradley County’s campaign kickoff luncheon.

The luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Walker Arena on the campus of Lee University. Tickets are $20 each, and tables of eight are $160.

Future Hall-of-Fame pitcher John Smoltz, of Atlanta Braves fame, will be the speaker for the United Way’s Campaign Kickoff Luncheon, which is the traditional beginning of the United Way of Bradley County campaign.

The kickoff luncheon will also feature results from Pacesetter and Challenger firms. Pacesetters are companies that conduct early campaigns and have their totals reported at the luncheon. Challenger firms also pledge to attempt to raise 10 percent more in contributions than the previous year’s campaign.

These companies met Wednesday at a special luncheon to prepare for the campaign, and will be conducting their internal drives during the next several weeks leading up to the kickoff luncheon.

The event will begin at noon, but a large crowd is expected for the luncheon, so early arrival is recommended. With students not arriving until the following week, adequate parking will be available near the arena.

Reservations are required. Tickets are available by calling the United Way offices at 479-2020, by faxing your reservation to 339-1110, or by emailing your ticket request to liveunited@unitedwaybc.com.

Tickets can also be purchased by visiting the United Way of Bradley County website at www.unitedwaybc.com, and going to the Campaign Kickoff Luncheon link in the News and Events section.

For more information, contact the United Way offices. Deadline for reservations is Friday, Aug. 10, but with a large crowd expected, it is suggested you purchase tickets soon.
